intro
7/31/14 I think I used it to make a DVD of my 2008 photos during my sabbatical. It is awfully hard to use and seems to crash a lot.
Version X3, 5/11. Installed on Dell5150.
File extension is .pspimage
7/31/14 see other post on paintshop re: problems on 8500. Took it off.
Handy for overlaying a mask or overlaying vector objects.
There doesn't seem to be a way to import an image into a layer directly. Instead, open the image in another PSP file and then drag the newly opened image onto another one to create a new layer. It should also work to cut and paste (paste by "Edit > Paste as new layer"), but I've had problems with masked layers (you shouldn't have to resort to merging layers or saving to a jpg or using copy special to get the layer to paste, but I've resorted to that -- something must have been messed up). Use "View > Palattes > Layers" to show the layers of a masked image, then drag the top (composite or cut-out) layer to form a new layer on the other image.
These work a little differently than in older Corel software. Rather than cutting or something, you create a new mask layer ("View > Palettes > Layers" to show these). You can turn these off or on.
use tools to mask off an area
use Layers > New Mask Layer > Hide (or show) selection -- this puts the composite "cut-out" layer on top.
if you want the mask layered on another photo, drag the topmost composite layer (from the palette view) to that other photo (it will automatically create a new layer with such a drag)
From organizer, File > HDR Photo Merge
Doesn't really work -- at least I can't figure out how to arrange photos in the right order (doesn't seem to matter how I load them). Also, not integrated with organizer, express, or PSP. Use Canon software instead.
In Zoom Browser, select photos to stitch, then Tools > Stitch Photos.... It is pretty self-explanatory from there.
Notes on steps
Create a new project or open an existing one.
Thumbnails of directories must be displayed -- drag photos or movies (AVI, WMV?) to the media tray on the bottom in the correct order.
videos must be longer than 3 seconds
will not support MPEG format (AVI works fine)
not integrated with PSP -- photos needing touch-up must be opened separately in PSP (keep an explorer window open)
PSP good for adding titles directly to photos
use VSP to edit/crop videos. See compression notes under VSP
The project can be saved and reviewed on the next screen before rendering
The "create" step renders the project to a video file. You must use VSP (DVD factory) to create a DVD-player friendly DVD burn.
